Hi friend,
My Oxford English Dictionary defines feminism as: n. a movement supporting women’s rights on the grounds of equality of the sexes.
There is no way I can or will speak for God, but I can tell you what the Bible says on this topic:
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. - Galatians 3:28
This question is incredibly hard for me because, while I’ve always called myself a feminist, feminism is kind of becoming something else lately… I know so many women who call themselves feminists but who are not about equality. They’re about putting men down, bashing them, etc., and I am not about that life. I do know that, like Galatians 3:28 reads, we are all one in Christ Jesus, I do know that God created male and female alike in His image, and I do know that Jesus commands us to love one another. So, yes, I support women’s rights, I support men’s rights, I support human rights, but I’m not sure what to make of what feminism is becoming.
In researching after reading your ask, I came across this article, and I think the last paragraph is pretty much spot on:
The last decades have seen the rise of a society that is so concerned with political correctness and so sensitive to being “offended” that civility has lost its way. However, this is really nothing new, for there has always been inequality in the world. It is sad but true that artificial barriers have always divided humanity—barriers that have no basis in God’s Word. It is sin in the heart that causes inequality. It is sin that causes men to treat women in ways that are meant to demean or objectify them. And it is sin that seeks counterfeit solutions to counteract these inequalities. The only true cure for inequality is obedience to God’s Word. If men and women would walk in obedience to God’s Word, radical feminism would be seen for what it is, and the harmony that God has ordained between men and women would result.
Another verse I keep going to (and one mentioned in the article I linked to above) is 1 John 2:16:
For all that is in the world–the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life–is not from the Father but is from the world.
While human desires are part of God’s creation, they are evil when they are expressed in ways for which God did not create them. So I’m not sure. This desire to be equal: is that a desire God created? It would seem not, as He created us equal. Maybe feminism is from the world, and we shouldn’t be partaking? I’m really not sure, friend. It makes sense that we want equality, but the reason we do not have it is because humans are flawed, and because of sin.
If any of my other followers have anything to add, please do.
All my love,
S.

YOU CHOSE THIS
WAKE UP: Sex does not come without CONSEQUENCE.
Stop pretending that it doesn’t. Pregnancy is not a punishment, is a matter of
CAUSE AND EFFECT
You CHOSE to have sex,
you CHOSE not to use protection,
you CHOSE to ignore the risks and responsibilities that come with having unsafe sex with the drunk guy from the bar you don’t even know the name of.
It’s clear that you don’t respect your own body, or give regard to your choices, so why should I?

Why I need Chicana feminism
Because I was taught to stay away from certain styles because they were too “mexican”. With phrases like “the bigger the hoop, the bigger the hole” when I loved wearing big earrings. Being told that red hair against my brown skin looked “ghetto” instead of fierce and bold. Wearing stylish flannels like the pretty pastel haired girls on tumblr and being told I look like a “chola”. Working hard to get rid of my slang because society taught me that it was “unflattering”. That bright red lips were too much. That my natural intense brows are now a makeup “fad”. When in reality all this shit was made up by people that want to put us down for claiming our own identity.
me: men shouldn’t be applauded for being feminists, everyone should be a feminist as feminism is simply believing that all genders are equal. and while it is refreshing when men are feminists, they shouldn’t be treated like heroes as if it’s a great accomplishment to have basic human decency.
tom holland: [is a feminist]
me: i love one (1) man!!! quality man right there!!!! shove that feminist spider-man all the way up my entire ass!!! an icon!!!!!!
feminism means for women to have EQUAL rights as men.
there’s no such thing as different types of feminists, or different meanings. I am a feminist. I am man and I believe women should have equal rights and should be treated equally.
Don’t think feminism is man hating because some people who claim to be feminists hate men, or just plain think women should be above men. Those are just women misusing the term.
So, do you believe in equal rights for men and women? Yes? Then you are a feminist.

Hey, I definitely do! I’ve shared my views on feminism before, and encourage you to check that out first, but I’ll elaborate on how my feminism is intrinsic to my faith. For clarification, the definition of a feminist is “one who advocates for women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.” It’s the belief that women and men are both human, equal in worth and should therefore be given equal opportunities. In light of this, it’s hard for me to understand how I could be a Christian and not be a feminist.
Feminism is often misunderstood and is often falsely projected in some conservative communities as an attitude marked by defiance, or the belief that women are better than men, but that would be “misandry” and neither that nor misogyny is God-honoring. I’m sure there are feminists who are bitter and reviled by the male sex, but I’d argue that these female activists are probably not Christians. I think the core of feminism is very Christ-like and gospel-affirming .
As a Christian, I want to stand for social, political, and economic justice, and this leads me to stand against patriarchy and sexism, as well as racism, ageism, classism, etc. haha that’s a lot of isms. The point is that the gospel raises up the church to stand against every form of oppression. Compassion for humanity and the desire to treat all people with dignity should compel us to advocate for justice. As Christians, even if we don’t feel personally oppressed by something, this does not exempt us from acting on behalf of the oppressed. For example, we cannot turn a blind eye to the economic disparity between the sexes (women earn $0.75 to the $1.00 that men earn for the same position). I’m particularly infuriated by the sexual implications of sexism. We should be broken hearted over the rape culture that perpetuates, automatically shaming and blaming women for a man’s lack of self-control and violent acts of objectification. These are problems that I can’t neglect, which reminds me of Sarah Bessey’s beautiful interjection on the feminist role in Christian activism.
Throughout my time on tumblr, I have shared a lot of quotes with feminist themes, if you’re interested. It may help you understand why I’m a feminist, and how it’s a part of my world-view as a Christian woman.

Just a healthy reminder that if you uphold TERF (Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminism) and SWERF (Sex Worker Exclusionary Radical Feminist) lines of thought, you are invited to unfollow us.
My sister had this conversation on a date tonight:
- Guy: i hope you're not a feminist
- Sister: ...why
- Guy: it's just a stupid trend that everyone is jumping on
- *interlude*
- Guy: I don't know why you're going back to school, you're never going to make as much as a man so you should just stay home
- Sister: *shoving breadsticks into Prada bag* I have to go find feminism
so uh, reminder that a woman of color not liking feminism or anything that deals with anything that has a white female majority isn’t misogynistic or anti-feminist.
it’s 100% okay for women of color to decenter white women and center and prioritize other women of color. it’s okay for women of color to not be excited over white female representation. you’re not entitled to our labor, our (so very little) spaces, nothing.
claiming such to be misogynist is also misogynist and racist. please understand that as a white woman, you still are just as racist as your white male counterparts, you still reap the benefits of being white and nothing about that is misogynist at all.
listen to women of color when you’re told that you’ve done something racist, amplify our voices, stay in your lane, call out racism from your fellow white women and let women of color be. thanks and yes this is 100% ok for white people to reblog
